Hello, thank you for visiting.

Sonya Moorhead is a multi-disciplinary performer and artist working predominantly in the North West.  She trained at Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre and for the past six years has had the privilege of performing professionally with companies such as Feelgood Theatre, Horse and Bamboo Theatre, Collective Encounters, Walk the Plank and Pif-Paf.  She believes theatre can be a transformational experience, for both audience and performers a like, and that opportunity should be open to whole communities not just regular theatre goers.  This enthusiasm to widen participation has naturally drawn her to work in outdoor, site-specific and street theatre.

“…She is one of too few emerging artists who combine an innovative approach to high quality, professional theatre with a commitment to socially or politically driven subject matter.  For many theatre makers it appears that this is an either/or choice, but for Sonya both the quality of the art and the integrity of the subject matter are equally important.  Her work consistently reflects this…” Sarah Thornton- Collective Encounters.

Sonya is an experienced Community Artist and has delivered workshops for young people in performance and visual arts on behalf of Halle for Youth, the Lowry, BBC, Space Cadets, Pif-Paf, Jersey Arts Centre and Ordsall Community Arts.
